The forecasts are calling for a winter weather event that could be of historic proportions. This includes freezing rain, sleet and snow. The National Weather Service has issued a BLIZZARD WARNING is in effect from 6pm tonight for the MO Ozarks until 6am Wednesday morning. Please be prepared and stay tuned to forecasts. Let's hope this doesn't pan out, but if it does, this area will be in trouble. Areas along I-44 could see 15+ inches of snow. 
The National Weather Service in Springfield, MO has posted the 2011 Spotter Training Classes. There are multiple ways to report in to the National Weather Service, including by phone, online and amateur radio. If you are interested in doing this, or just have a general interest in severe weather, the public is welcome. These classes cover training and safety.
In Missouri, one to three inches of snow is expected to fall south of I-44 and three to five inches north of I-44. The heaviest of the snowfall should start late this afternoon and go into the evening. If it's going to be cold, we might as well have snow! 
The National Weather Service and local meteorologists are calling for winter precipitation Christmas Eve into Christmas. The language seems to be a little vague, but leaning towards some snow. Wouldn't that be fantastic!
Strong to severe storms will be possible late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night. Marginal instability and extreme wind shear will result in an elevated risk for severe thunderstorms according to the NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook.
